I've been coveting this Herman Miller Eames desk (a certified reproduction of a late 1940's Danish Modern piece) for months now and as a reward to myself for getting through renovations I bought it. I figure with how much time I spend at a desk every day it might as well be the nicest desk it can be. Oddly enough, around the time I decided to buy it I got an unexpected performance based bonus from work (all that ass-busting must have paid off!) which pretty much exactly covered the cost of the desk—how's that for an awesome turn of events?
Vincent approves, but he's waiting for me to leave so he can go check his Facebook on my laptop. Those crazy cats love the internet.
Only issue now is the lack of space between the desk and bed, but I've got a plan for that as well. I'm getting ready to order a custom made Murphy bed for this room, since we don't use the bed too often enough to warrant the lack of space it creates. I'll probably have it in about a month, so expect to see photos then. And I can pay for it with the money I saved on the desk!
It feels nice to have grown-up furniture…
What kind of laptop you got there Vincent?

Vincent has an x60s from Lenovo (IBM) cause at 3 pounds it's only 1/5 of his body weight. He does have the extended battery on which adds half a pound but it's worth it for his jet-setting ways

That is a perdy puter. I have a Sony TX VGN750P, with the "Fatty" battery. The thing runs for days without a recharge.

Hey - how's the desk working out ?
I'm right where you were before purchasing - been eying the natural version for weeks, and they're on sale for just two more days.
I'm 6'5" and i only wonder if it might feel just a bit crowded to me, especially with all the cross bars everywhere.
any comments most welcome - cheers

love the desk...it could be a little taller for my tastes, but luckily i have a very modular chair which allows me to customize the height and angle and fit in. I'm 5'11" and it's plenty tall enough for me. However I did go see one and sit at it in person before buying, so maybe you should do the same. No issues with the crossbars at all though.
