I've made some recent furnishing purchases, all designed to decrease clutter and force myself to approach the way I live and work in a more streamlined fashion. I'm going for that "everything has a place" thang with "clear surface areas" aesthetic. This is a new thing for me and I must say I like it. It's nice to have the space to at least try to do minimalism.
We also got two more of the fantastic Ikea Baren cabinets for our master bathroom installed, along with this Lagio chest of drawers from Topdeq that literally matches perfectly. Between all this extra storage and our new linen closet, I was able to finally unpacking all of our bathroom related items and get them set up in a way that makes sense and leaves our bathroom streamlined. It's amazing what surface area will do!
We spent more time putting our home network together, wiring in the storage room and setting up our firewall and routing. I'll do a dedicated post on that when we are done—there are still more finishing touches to put on.
I also managed to get my desk area in the office set up once and for all, with a new stainless steel table (Ikea), gray metal drawers (also Ikea), stainless steel shelf (shocker! Ikea) and a new lockable filing cabinet. I've seriously de-cluttered my desk, getting nice chargers of all my little devices to keep them neat and wire-free. I got both of my backup hard drives set up and fully running, so I will no longer live in fear of my computer crashing and losing all my data. I also got a new printer, HP C5180, which I am in love with. It just works, as opposed to my old HP that worked half the time and made noises like dying hyena otherwise. It's nice when technology just works for you, instead of making your life more of a living hell than it already is.
But the crown jewel of my new desk setup is my MSFT Bluetooth Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000 with crazy-thin keyboard and rechargeable mouse. I rarely get so excited about mice and keyboards, but this one makes me very, very happy. It's sleek and works flawlessly!
This is a huge departure from my last desk setup, which has a bunch of nooks and crannies, not to mention multiple elevations. I found all that space made me store crap on the desk surface instead of putting it away. Now I've got 12 drawers and two filing cabinet drawers so there is plenty of room for everything to have its own rightful place—a rightful place that is out of sight! I'm really liking this whole "put everything away when you are done with it" motif.
Also notice the stainless shelf right next to the door. This is my "put everything here when you come in so it's readily available for the next time you leave" shelf. That sound make things easier to find in the future—there is no way I can leave the house without the essentials now!
And since I dropped my camera in Koblentz Germany, I got another one, this time a Canon PowerShot SD800IS, which does wide angle shots and in general rocks harder than my old camera. Yay new toys!
I have the same keyboard. It's amazing! Only downside is the 5 second lag when it falls asleep, grrr...

that's strange...mine has like a 2 second lag when it goes to sleep, which is the same as my monitor so I don't really notice it. You have the keyboard and not the mouse? The mouse rocks too!

Looks like you got your Zune replaced. Nice. Point one of the cameras on it.
